Entrance exam

The majority of private schools in the UK will require an entrance exam as well as an interview in order to be considered for admission. It may just be a standard test from the individual school or the school will ask students to take a standard language test together with their school test. Usually schools will set their own pass mark.

Most entrance exams will be taken between 6 and 9 months beforehand, therefore it is crucial to prepare your child for them. Some parents pay for private tuition; others will send their children on short courses. Entrance exams vary by school and age group. There is another type of entrance exam called the “Common Entrance Exam” which is a public exam paper set by an appointed Independent School Examination Board.
